Louisiana Red Beans & Rice with Sausage

Ingredients

  • 1 package RICE-A-RONIĀ® Red Beans & Rice
  • 1 pound smoked sausage
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion (optional)

Preparation Steps

  1. In medium saucepan, combine rice-bean mix, 2 cups water, 1 Tbsp. margarine, Special Seasonings and 1 lb. smoked sausage, cut into 1-inch slices; bring to a boil.
  2. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer 20-25 min. or until rice is tender. Rice will be saucy.
  3. Let stand 5 min. before serving.

Tips and Variations

  • Add 1/2 cup each chopped green bell pepper and onion during last 5 min. of simmering.
